Security Specialist

About this opportunity

We are looking for an IT Security Specialist within our European Information Support System. The position of Security Specialist will be based in Wantage, Oxfordshire.

This position will be responsible for protecting Crown’s IT systems from cyber security threats by implementing cyber security solutions to ensure that all threats and threat alerts are fully investigated and treated, to maintain a strong secured system. Also, the candidate will manage security configuration and networking changes, including firewalls and VPNs, ensuring the most simple, secure, and efficient connectivity across Crown’s networks.
 

Main Responsibilities

• Ensure that best practice is followed at every stage for network connections between companies, divisions, and regions
• Ensure that the threats are recognized and mitigated promptly and thoroughly within operational technology environments, sites with resource constraints, as well as across the IT network
• Be involved in projects of varying complexity to ensure best practice in security is followed and enacted across third-party software and services provided by external vendors
• Work as part of a team to investigate and respond to cyber security incidents, compromises, and / or breaches, whilst being proactive, efficient, and diligent, with a focus on continual service improvement
• Liaise with other EISS teams, various other departments across EMEA, and the Global Information Security team to ensure that knowledge and experience are shared around security alerts, investigations, and response strategies.

• Identify and address issues within IT solutions, to ensure compliance with cyber security standards and policies whilst addressing current and future business requirements
• Create, update, remove, and maintain internal and edge firewall rules and settings, to ensure best practice in security is in place, even during transitions
• Ensure VPN connectivity is secure for all staff and contractors via both, client, and clientless implementations, including the creation of new secure connection routes for specific vendors
• Support all third-party and internally managed cybersecurity solutions
• Review website security settings and certificates; updating, renewing, and replacing when required
• Assist the networks team in responding to network outages, and issues with VPN, north / south, and east / west traffic
• Liaise with the IT teams in other Crown divisions across regions to provide cyber security configurations continually, and align strategic goals wherever possible
• Assist in identifying and defining new company networking security standards
• Meet governance requirements and help ensure compliance with all necessary cybersecurity-related regulations, local legislations, and audit requirements
• Maintain a report of cyber security solutions and standards whilst keeping cybersecurity-related documentation up to date
• Stay updated on cyber security laws, vulnerabilities, and solutions to develop skill sets and knowledge in all aspects of cyber security

About You

Required Education and Qualifications
• Qualification at a University Degree level (or equivalent)

Required Knowledge and Experience
• Previous networking experience of at least 5 years working in a Microsoft-based environment
• Previous experience of at least 1 year working in a role with IT security-related responsibilities
• Good knowledge of networking solutions, policies & processes
• Previous record of working with teams across multiple geographies
• Strong understanding of Microsoft cloud, server & client products
• Good understanding of IT Security & associated technologies

Beneficial
• Previous experience with Palo Alto Prisma access within the security
