Lead Process Monitoring Development Engineer

Purpose

As Lead Process Monitoring Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of novel solutions to improve the performance of Crowns Global manufacturing operations.

Within Crown Holding’s Research and Development hub based in Wantage, you will work with a talented team to develop innovative process monitoring solutions. This is an exciting, high-impact role with the opportunity to make the role your own and influence the direction of process improvement in a global industry.

 

Responsibilities

The role will consist of:

  • Develop novel monitoring solutions to support Crowns’ Global manufacturing processes
  • Use National Instruments hardware and LabVIEW Software applications to deliver these solutions.
  • Convert broad, top-level requirements into well-planned applications for a variety of areas with scalability as a focus.
  • Produce software user manuals
  • Support deployed software solutions to fix bugs and add new features
  • Communicate with various stakeholders and internal and external customers to understand and define requirements. Deliver these solutions with the support of internal and external resources.
  • Drive projects within time constraints

  • Problem Solving - solve complex issues and develop solutions by working as part of a team to solve problems within the company
  • Self-Development - via the job and appropriate external courses, continuously develop skills, knowledge and expertise in various aspects of process monitoring hardware and software.
  • Teamwork - work cohesively as part of the team, drawing from expert knowledge of the industry and processes to ensure new development is applicable and in line with industry
  • Project Management - own development projects for the whole life cycle from concept to delivery and communicate with key stakeholders the progress effectively
  • Onsite Working - work in Crown production facilities as required in a safe manner when developing and deploying control & monitoring solutions
  • Organized & Analytical outlook on problem solving balanced by a creative and innovative mind-set
  • Safe working - understand and ensure development is undertaken with safety as a focus

Personal Specification

          Essential

  • LabVIEW Real-time and FPGA experience
  • Understanding of electronics and test equipment
  • Understanding of data acquisition and signal processing techniques
  • Experience interfacing with various sensors and control solutions
  • Methodical troubleshooting and debugging skills
  • Good time management skills to meet multiple deadlines in parallel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proactive mindset and willingness to problem solve
  • Ability to drive projects forward
  • Positive attitude towards safety

 

          Desirable

  • Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD)
  • LabVIEW Graphical Object-oriented Programming principals
  • LabVIEW Actor Framework
  • Data Analysis techniques
  • Thorough understanding of factors influencing software performance
  • LabVIEW Vision Development module experience
  • Development using SQLite

 

Education

Engineering degree in either Software, Electronics or Mechatronic Engineering
