Engineering Technician

About this opportunity
Responsible to provide Engineering Workshop and Laboratory support to development project activities, including prototype equipment set-up and modifications, and sample manufacture and evaluation. Work activities will also include equipment service/maintenance, and work area Warden responsibilities.

The job-holder will also periodically provide on-site technology transfer and line start-up support at Crown’s manufacturing facilities. 

During volume sample manufacturing exercises, the organisation and supervision of temporary staff will be required.


Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Completing prototype equipment and tooling set-up and mandatory safety checks to CT requirements.
  • Trouble-shooting and identifying equipment/tooling changes required, undertaking/organising design changes/modifications, and liaising with Engineers and Project Managers.
  • Organising and coordinating on-site trials.
  • Manufacture, measurement and evaluation of samples in CT facilities and Crown’s operations.
  • Completing mandatory safety assessments and checks on new and existing equipment, and completing associated documentation
  • Generating Work Instructions defining equipment use, and test protocols, and delivering training

Job requirements


  • Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship / qualification in relevant industry or equivalent
  • Confident and competent user of machine tools
  • Competent user of MS Office applications
  • Capable and motivated independent and safe working once briefed on tasks
  • Ability and interest in working in different/new technology fields 


  • Full driving license & ability to travel
  • Basic CAD skills, SolidWorks preferred
