Electrical Maintenance Technician

About this opportunity

To provide a high level of electrical installation and maintenance expertise as part of a small multi-disciplinary building services team, assisting the maintenance management team in delivering a customer focussed cost effective and efficient service.
Carry out project and maintenance work activities to deliver facility services projects, planned and reactive maintenance services. 

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

  • Complete scheduled reactive and planned maintenance tasks on electrical systems across site, ensuring tasks are completed to site standards and within the required response times. 
  • Fault finding and rectification works on single and three phase electrical systems, ensuring minimum downtime.    
  • Ensuring all applicable works you carry out meet the requirements of BS7671 and site specifications.  Ensuring such works are tested and recorded using site inspection and testing documentation.
  • Attend or advise, on rota, out-of-hours emergencies.
  • Liaising with external Electrical Contractors, including coordinating works, ensuring scope of works is understood and that disruption to end users is minimised.
  • Provide maintenance assistance to other work colleagues when required.
  • Work always following site environment, health and safety working practices taking due care to your personal safety, and the safety of work colleagues, contractors and site visitors. 
  • Ensure site housekeeping standards are always maintained.
  • Co-operate with your employer to develop skills when training is provided.
  • Do not interfere with or misuse anything that’s been provided for your health, safety, or welfare.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships.
  • Accept and respond to any reasonable request to perform tasks not specifically covered in this job description. 

 

Job requirements

Essential 

  • 18th Edition Current Regulations City & Guilds 2381 and City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing. 
  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualification.
  • At least two years installing and maintaining industrial building electrical and control services
  • Experience of working in a busy demand led environment

Desirable

  • Approved Electrician status
  • IOSH Working safely or relevant experience
  • Experience working with third parties
  • A customer service approach to problem solving
  • IT literate, including Microsoft Office
  • A flexible and positive attitude to innovation and change
