Your mission in CMbE

We are looking to recruit an EHS Officer, predominantly based at our Head Office in Shipley. There is a requirement of flexibility to work from our sites in Saltaire, Shipley and Wortley, Leeds. Occasional UK travel to our site in Wisbech is also required for this role. The mission of this role is to competently advise stakeholders on EHS matters and aspects of EHS’ continual improvement, ensuring site compliance with EHS legislation, Company Directives and KPIs; and coordinating, creating and delivering EHS training, communications and Toolbox talks. Some key responsibilities of this role are ensuring the EHS management system is implemented and maintained to the requirements of both ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards, as part of supporting the QEHS integrated management system; and establishing co-operation with other managerial functions and with employees’ representatives regarding environmental, health and safety systems of work, policies, procedures and risk assessments.

About you

The ideal candidate will have experience of working within an EHS or Compliance role and will have exposure to environmental technologies or environmental reporting. Experience of working in Engineering / Manufacturing / Higher Risk Work Environment is key. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to produce technical reports, present in-person and train others via various delivery modes.  Essential to this role is in-depth knowledge and understanding of EHS Legal frameworks, safety arrangements and EHS management systems ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. Knowledge of workplace equipment, processes and techniques is important. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate their ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and meet individual performance criteria when dealing with critical EHS events. Required for this role is a solid knowledge of IT software packages and proficiency with processing data and numbers.

Candidates must hold a formal qualification to a minimum of a Level 4/ higher national certificate (HNC), or equivalent, in Engineering, Manufacturing, Analytical or Science. Candidates must possess a NEBOSH Certificate in Health & Safety.  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills to communicate technical information; together with strong verbal, written and presentation skills. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a drive for continuous EHS improvement, the confidence to ‘speak up’ during meetings, approachability and a helpful nature.
