About this opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability and Public Affairs Manager to join Crown.

The role reports to the Vice President - Global Sustainability and External Affairs and is based in our offices in Saint-Ouen, close to Paris, France.

 

Your mission in Crown:

  • Lead Sustainability Communication: Drive communication on sustainability actions in line with the Corporate Twentyby30 program.
  • Policy Advocacy: Advocate for policies that support the growth and circularity of aluminium beverage cans.
  • Strategic Alignment: Align the company’s sustainability strategy with legislative developments in EMEA and other Crown regions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with key stakeholders and drive initiatives promoting aluminium as a sustainable packaging solution.
  • Industry Representation: Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and working groups on packaging sustainability, recycling, and circular economy policies.
  • Regulatory Support: Provide legislative and regulatory support to internal customers, including Business VPs, Key Accounts Directors, and Procurement teams.
  • Trend Analysis: Analyze and predict future business trends affecting Crown’s business and products.
  • Recycling Initiatives: Lead initiatives to increase the collection, sorting, and recycling of aluminium packaging, supporting a closed-loop recycling system.
  • Sustainability Reporting: Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to develop sustainability reports, case studies, and public-facing materials.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, standards, and certifications (e.g., Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation – PPWR).
  • Performance Reporting: Prepare regular reports on sustainability performance, including contributions to industry benchmarks and certifications.

 

About you:

  • Educational Background: Master of Business Administration, Master in Public Affairs, or equivalent diploma, ideally with a Sustainability & Compliance MBA.
  • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience in EU sustainability policy and public affairs.
  • Industry Knowledge: Good understanding of waste and packaging-related topics, including Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
  • Relevant Experience: Previous experience within FMCG companies, EU institutions, or consultancies is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Proven ability to interact with and influence policy decisions, build consensus among stakeholders, and assess regulatory risks and opportunities.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Skilful at working across departments and engaging with external stakeholders, with strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Proactive and Action-Oriented: A self-starter who takes initiative to achieve objectives.
  • Integrity and Team Spirit: High level of integrity, robust team spirit, and ability to work with different cultures and styles.
