About this opportunity
Your work environment: We now have an opportunity for a strong, highly motivated individual to join us as Inventory Controller based in our plant in Saarlouis (Germany) which produces beverage aluminium cans and Ends, operating 7/7, 24h/24h on a continuous shift system. The role reports to the Supply Chain Manager and functionally to the Supply Chain Optimisation Manager Europe. Your mission in Crown
The Inventory Controller is responsible for managing the supply, storage and reconciliation of all plant inventory—including spare parts, raw materials, aluminium, and packaging—to ensure stock levels meet production needs and business objectives. This role oversees secure and compliant storage, maintains accurate inventory records and systems, monitors the quality and quantity of inventory movements, collaborates with internal teams and drives continuous improvement in inventory management processes.
- Plan and manage replenishment of inventory (spare parts, raw materials, aluminium, packaging) to align with production schedules, supplier deliveries, and site storage capacity.
- Maintain optimal stock levels to meet production and engineering needs, supporting business working capital objectives.
- Administer storage areas and spare parts stores according to company policies and procedures
- Ensure all inventory is stored securely to minimize safety risks and material losses.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in SAP (and other relevant systems), including bills of materials, consumption, reconciliations, and stock adjustments.
- Collaborate with SAP and production teams to optimize inventory management systems, MRP and re-order points.
- Monitor and manage the quality and quantity of all incoming and outgoing inventory.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconciliations to support month-end reviews, SOX controls, and audits.
- Verify received items for accuracy, report discrepancies or damages, and ensure proper classification and routing
- Work closely with production, engineering, warehouse, finance, and sourcing teams to ensure inventory availability and accuracy. Support other supply chain roles during peak demand periods to maintain team cohesion.
- Evaluate inventory levels and service levels, initiate requisitions and re-orders, and communicate with sourcing teams for supplier improvement.
- Identify and implement process improvements for inventory control and supply chain flexibility
About you
The ideal candidate will hold a university degree or a degree in Industrial Engineering, with a specialization in Supply Chain. They should have a minimum of 2–3 years of experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in IT is essential, and familiarity with SAP is a strong advantage.
Key competencies for the role include numerical aptitude, strong organizational and planning skills, a methodical approach and attention to detail. The candidate must be able to perform effectively under pressure, meet tight deadlines and adapt to shifting priorities.
Fluency in English is required, in addition to German. The successful candidate will be a team player with a collaborative mindset, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to influence others effectively.
