In response to market growth, we are building our largest Plant yet and Peterborough will be its home. The Peterborough Plant will be a key site within the Bevcan EMEA Business. Crown Peterborough will benefit from state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and modern practices to support high-speed and highly automated beverage can making capable of producing 3 billion cans per annum. The Plant will operate 24 hours per day on a continuous shift system, 360 days per annum and will employ approximately 280 people.

About this opportunity

We are now looking to hire a Plant Manager, reporting to the Regional Manufacturing Director, based in Peterborough in the UK.

This is an incredible opportunity to join Crown in a brand-new role and become one of the ‘first feet on the ground’ staff for the new Plant.

Main Responsibilities

  • Efficiently manage the Plant KPIs and the employees who work therein, within the Principal’s policies and instructions, in line with objectives set by the VP Operations and communicated by the Manufacturing Director, in terms of output, W/C, efficiency, Quality & Customer Satisfaction; ensuring that the highest safety standards are established and maintained
  • Set an example to all employees ensuring that Crown’s ethics policies are understood and respected
  • Show self-motivated leadership demonstrating the ability to successfully lead our Plant Management team of skilled and experienced individuals, ensuring efficient communication between all departments under your responsibility
  • Manage all aspects of manufacturing including casting and implementing directions and action plans towards Excellence in EHS, Quality, Production and Engineering
  • Lead manufacturing teams to produce quality Product, on-time, in-full, with optimum cost and in a safe environment, while complying with all labour, safety, environmental, plant and Business policies and regulations

Required Education and Qualifications

  • You are an Industrial or Mechanical Engineer
  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience as Plant Manager or Production Manager (preferably in the metal packaging industry, automotive or FMCG)
  • In-depth knowledge of business and management principles (i.e. Budgeting, Cost Control etc.)

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Demonstrable ability to lead, coach, develop and motivate people
  • Ability to manage Production and Maintenance needs
  • Ability to ‘roll your sleeves up’ when required
  • Ability to set up and thrive in a continuous improvement culture
