About this opportunity
We are now looking for an EHS Engineer to be based on-site at the new Peterborough Plant. The role of EHS Engineer will report to EHS Manager.
This is an incredible opportunity to join Crown in a brand-new role and become one of our ‘first feet on the ground’, allowing you to be involved in setting up the EHS function for the Plant and putting best practices in place from day one.
Main Responsibilities
Environment:
• Monitor legislation change and ensure compliance with legal requirements such as IPPC, Waste, Water, Air, Noise, and Energy regulations
• Manage and develop the ISO 14001 standard system in all its aspects; internal and external audits, up-to-date procedures, environmental management programmes, risk assessments, management review, etc.
• Collect relevant data regarding environmental performance and issues, and furnish appropriate personnel and authorities with this information
Health and Safety:
• Provide expertise to Line Managers in all aspects of Health & Safety in the workplace
• Develop and manage the ISO 45001 system to ensure the application of safe systems at work
• Manage and ensure the compliance with site safety policies of all contractors and non-Crown personnel
• Drive Safety Performance through the use of the Safety Benchmark table (leading KPIs)
Accidents and Incidents:
• In accordance with Plant and statutory procedure, investigate all incidents, near-misses, and accidents, and initiate effective corrective actions if appropriate
• Investigate complaints arising from environmental impacts or incidents to minimise the negative impact on the reputation
• Promote accident prevention activities, devise, and communicate One Point safety lessons, safety campaigns, and initiatives, to reduce accidents and facilitate safe working behaviours
• Promote the STOP/STEP safety behavioural philosophy
• Provide support in improving the effectiveness of Emergency Response teams by leading their training and development
• Manage the fire prevention, risk management systems, and policies to ensure the effective service of the service providers
Communication and Training:
• Collate relevant monthly data, statistics, and KPIs regarding the Environment, Health & Safety to present to the central and executive teams
• Encourage the participation of Safety Representatives and Line Management in the workforce to implement best practice
• Raise environment, food hygiene, and health and safety awareness in the Plant at all levels, and organise relevant training
Required Education and Qualifications
• Engineering / Technical degree in Industrial Safety & Hygiene or in Environment
• Alternatively, a minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS aspects acquired in a manufacturing environment
• NEBOSH Diploma in Health & Safety (or equivalent), as well as equivalent Environmental qualifications, with working experience with OSHAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001 Management systems
Required Knowledge and Experience
• Excellent knowledge of all relevant EHS legislation
Beneficial
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
Required Skills and Competencies
• Keen to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and advanced technological environment
• Familiarity with the usage of computers
• Demonstrable analytical and problem-solving skills
• An effective communicator with good interpersonal and facilitation skills whilst bearing safety in mind
• Fluency in English, both verbal and written
• Ability to work within a team environment
