About this opportunity
We now have a vacancy for a Quality Engineer, based at Peterborough (UK). The role reports to the Plant Quality Manager.
Your mission in Crown
- To co-ordinate Plant activities and ensure we continually meet customer needs and improve performance with regard to product quality, cost effectiveness and delivery performance.
- To ensure that all critical process control parameters are maintained within specification, and to ensure that all appropriate actions are taken to supply a quality finished product to the customer.
- To identify high-risk activities, events and trends, working through pro-actively with the Cans manufacturing team and on his/her own initiative based on data and information.
- To provide a central point of reference with regard to customer or plant related on going quality issues
Customer Interface
- Ensure compliance to customer product requirements and bought-in products
- Liaison and follow up to Customer and Supplier Audits
- To monitor and ensure quality of incoming raw material
- Manage customer complaints ensuring preventative measures are taken
Quality Systems and Technology
- Support SPC & NWA implementation through the identification of process variability and the application of suitable statistical techniques. Review and agree appropriate action with Production & Engineering teams
- Support ESE implementation to the Crown standard following maintenances, changeovers and interventions
Process Control
- Identify any variance to critical specifications and agree appropriate action with production and engineering teams.
- Evaluate line conditions and performance with the aim to identify possible conditions, which could compromise quality, production or increase spoilage.
- Provide guidance and supporting data to facilitate continuous improvement
- To ensure compliance to the Quality Control Plan, with all process control parameters maintained within specifications
- Active Monitoring
- Evaluate appropriateness of actions taken from line logbooks which may compromise product quality or which may incur unnecessary downtime
- Evaluate current process and machine capability. Review of trend information and current values, working alongside Engineering and Production.
- Ensure full compliance with the requirements of the Quality Plan for any out-of-Specification results. Identify any non-compliance with ISO 9001 or Food Safety procedures and ensure remedial action is taken
About you
The ideal candidate is a Quality/Industrial Engineering graduate or a quality auditor with significant Quality trainings acquired through 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. You have a proven experience of quality systems and process improvement in a fast-paced production environment. You have a strong understanding of process capability and Statistical Process Control (SPC) as well as a strong knowledge of Quality and Food Safety Standards (ISO 9001, BRC, FSSC 22000 Standards or equivalent. You demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You strive at engaging others, with a collaborative approach to team working. You possess organisational and problem-solving skills. We are looking for a team player, with working knowledge of continuous improvement tools, excellent IT skills (SAP an advantage) and a positive and safety mind-set. Successful candidate will be provided with comprehensive training.
