About this opportunity

We currently have a vacancy for a Maintenance Electrician working continuous shifts (2 x 12 hours days & 2 x 12 hour nights, followed by 4 rest days), based in Botcherby, Carlisle  (UK). The Botcherby Plant is one of Crown's biggest in Europe.  

This is an exciting time to join Crown; planned ends volume for 2025 is currently 6 billion, we expect this to rise to over 8 billion with the planned investment. With 3 can lines installed as well; our capacity is in excess of 1.5 billion cans with the potential to grow further.

As a Maintenance Electrician you will:- 

• Carry out preventative maintenance work on machines and equipment to ensure maximum efficiency and compliance with Health & Safety legislation.
• React to equipment breakdowns, perform fault finding and rectification work to get the equipment back in production.
• Determine the nature of faults or breakdowns from information received from the production team and put preventative measures in place to avoid reoccurrence.
• Design and draw up circuit diagrams using AutoCAD; design and modify PLC programmes.
• Assess the feasibility of suggestions for improvements from all personnel and action improvements if appropriate.
• Make modifications to machines and equipment as necessary.

Job Requirements 

To apply you should be a qualified Engineer with a minimum level 3 advanced apprenticeship or equivalent in an engineering discipline (electrical bias). You should also possess:- 

• A safety-first mindset.
• An enthusiastic and highly motivated approach.
• A strong electrical background, ideally from a manufacturing environment.
• Electrical controls experience.
• PLC experience (ideally Allen-Bradley/Rockwell).
• Excellent communication skills.
• A willingness to work flexibly.
• Well-developed problem-solving skills.
• An understanding of continuous improvement mythologies. 
• The ability to work under pressure.
• The ability to work alone or as part of a team.
