About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Health & Safety Manager for Bevcan EMEA. The role reports to the Quality & EHS Director and will be preferably based in Wantage (UK) or in one of our European locations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join a Business committed to driving the safety culture forward.
Your working environment:
Under “Engage for Health and Safety Excellence” umbrella, the successful candidate will:
• Drive the Company vision and work with the Bevcan Top Management to enhance the culture of Health & Safety within our Business through our Continuous Improvement Programme and the introduction of Global Safety Initiatives or Safety Campaigns. You will formulate, establish and enforce company policies, directives, operating procedures and goals in all of our 18 manufacturing locations.
• Monitor and ensure compliance to the European Benchmark Table and other safety statistics.
• Regularly inspect plant sites to identify potential hazards or areas of non-compliance with company policies and permits. You will be fully engaged in the analysis of serious incidents and the implementation of preventive actions and risk assessment to reduce the risk of injury in the workplace.
• Provide training to our Health & Safety Managers in our plants/support functions. You will coach and develop EHS Managers on a regular basis to ensure optimal skill set and requirements are met
• Communicate Safety KPIs and increase Leader’s Engagement among the Health & Safety community through the use of H&S network meetings or H&S Forum;
• Develop and provide Quarterly Safety Brief to our EHS Community
• Work closely with our Production and Engineering Department (PED) and Project Management Engineering Team (PM&E) during the initial phase of a new manufacturing facility or an expansion of an existing facility. As such, you will review Health & Safety requirements for new project/expansion plan and perform gap analysis between existing company policies, procedures and permits to ensure compliance.
• Administer and act as a single point of contact for all Health & Safety systems used within the business (EHS Velocity, Convergence training platform, etc.)
About you:
The successful candidate must be a self-motivated, structured professional, who is keen on working in a fast-paced, high pressure and high technology environment. You have a Bachelor Degree, preferably in Industrial Engineering or similar, with minimum 5 years working experience at a plant level or in a similar role in a manufacturing environment. You will need to hold a NEBOSH Diploma in Health & Safety (or equivalent), a strong knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001 is required and a good knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 will be a plus. We are looking for a team player, with knowledge of continuous improvement tools, with a high level of organisation and administrative skills. Proactive, you will be required to constantly look for new and better ways to perform your duties. You can demonstrate a proven track record in problem-solving with excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. You enjoy contributing as an effective team member with strong influencing/leadership capability. You are computer literate. You are flexible to travel at short notice, with the willingness to adapt to different cultures and circumstances. Fluency in English – other languages desirable.
