In response to market growth, we are building our largest Plant yet and Peterborough will be its home. The Peterborough Plant will be a key site within the Bevcan EMEA Business. Crown Peterborough will benefit from state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and modern practices to support high-speed and highly automated beverage can making capable of producing 3 billion cans per annum. The Plant will operate 24 hours per day on a continuous shift system, 360 days per annum and will employ approximately 280 people.

About this opportunity

Your work environment: We currently have a vacancy for (x5) Toolcare Engineers reporting to the Tool Shop Supervisor based at Peterborough (UK). The Peterborough Plant is a greenfield site and will be home to state-of-the-art machinery and technologies, the new build facility operates within the Bevcan EMEA region. The Plant will operate 24 hours per day on a continuous shift system, 360 days per annum and will employ approximately 280 people. This is an excellent opportunity for enthusiastic, ambitious individuals to join a multinational organisation, with the scope to provide worldwide opportunities. Your mission in CROWN: The successful candidate will service, maintain, re-assemble and ensure a quality supply of machine tool parts associated with the manufacture of beverage cans.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Service tooling by stripping down and polishing and, where applicable, replacing with new parts
  • Reset parts to specified heights and dimensions
  • Re-assemble component parts of tools to operational capability and standards
  • Fit tooling into production machinery to effect efficient start-up after maintenance and breakdown
  • Operate maintenance schedules for tooling
  • Monitor condition of tooling; recommend and effect tooling changes in line with tooling performance
  • Ensure required spare tooling is available to required quantity level
  • Refurbish all spare tooling in stock
  • Despatch appropriate parts for re-conditioning outside the plant
  • Manufacture unit spares for tooling using a full range of engineering machines (lathes, millers, grinders, etc.)
  • Manufacture small component parts for production machinery (eg bushes, pins, guards, etc.)
  • Manufacture, fit and maintain machine guards, where required
  • Re-dress grinding machine wheels
  • Maintain all safe working practices as required by Health & Safety Legislation and Power Press Regulations

Additional Duties

  • When production demands, determine, operate, maintain, repair and improve all production machinery to produce maximum output of the required quality
  • Comply with all administration procedures associated with tooling maintenance
  • Assist in trials and installation commissioning of equipment as directed by immediate Manager
  • Work flexibly in any work area as far as safety and capability allows.

 

About you: The successful candidate will possess the following skills:

Essential:

  • Experience using coordinate measuring machines

Preferred:

  • CNC machining experience
  • Ideally experience should have been gained within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Beverage can making experience but full training will be offered
  • Experience of apprenticeship processes, mentoring aspiring engineers and training apprentices as they cycle through the toolcare department
