Logistics Co-ordinator

Reporting to the Logistics Manager, this is a newly created position that will provide support to the Logistics function completing administrative tasks including, but not limited to, transactions arising from the sale of the tinplate business with a strong focus around packaging and material management.  Provide cover for members of the team as required; in particular, the Materials Planner role.

 

Principal accountabilities will include:

  • Assisting Logistics team during period of organisational change.
  • Support development of IT tools to assist with task execution within team in range of applications. These are not excluded to but could range from raw material ordering, receipts of goods, material requirements to support production planning, stock control and distribution.
  • Support the Materials Planner in material control and packaging flows back from customers and through processing within the factory and external warehouses.
  • Support record keeping and paperwork tasks associated to logistics activities.
  • Assist in the day-to-day management of the in-flam goods area, ensuring FIFO procedures are adhered to.
  • Carry out regular physical material stock checks, and report, to ensure physical and system/JDE are in line.
  • Provide support for the Materials Planner with regards to the usage of the Barcoding systems including the completion of barcoding reconciliation reports.
  • Provide effective holiday/absence cover for the Materials Planner.
  • Assist with the management of material stocks, liaising with suppliers, on a weekly basis, to assist in keeping EDI and physical stocks to maintain invoicing.
  • Assist with relevant paperwork to ensure Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, within area of responsibility.
  • Co-ordinate stock control and ordering of strapping and stretch wrapping.
  • Management of aluminium scrap removal.
  • Ensure that all SOPs are relevant and up-to-date/developing new ones where required.
  • Assist with the processing of manual changes to the plan in JDE and any other corresponding systems.
  • Ensure that KPIs are updated and displayed on a monthly basis.

 

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate:

  • Good level of GCSE education – 5 Cs or above including English, Maths & IT
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Excel operational skills
  • Proven working knowledge of ERP systems
  • Previous work experience in a logistics or factory environment would be beneficial
  • Attention to detail is essential along with effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Preferred previous experience in operating manual handling equipment or willingness to learn
  • Should be analytical thinker that is structured in approach and methodical – this role will be a key enabler in adapting to the changes being experienced in the business by supporting the team in tasks and the development of tools
